Women's Tennis Wins CUNYAC Championship! Earn Berth to NCAA Tournament Next May

The women's tennis team won the 2023 CUNYAC Championship by defeating Hunter College, 5-1, on Thursday afternoon at the USTA Billie Jean King U.S. National Tennis Center in Queens.

The Bearcats win their eighth CUNYAC title in team history and will play in the NCAA Tournament next May of 2024. It will be their fourth all-time appearance in the NCAA.

Ava Deguzman was named the Finals MVP after quickly winning her doubles and singles encounters. Her victory at first singles clinched the team's fifth winning point. Per post-season rules, the match was halted upon the first team to score five points.

Erica Sheludenko and Aishika Yadav won at second doubles, 8-2.

Yadav (#2 singles, 6-0, 6-0) and Esther Benjamin (#4, 6-0, 6-0) also won their singles to wrap up the championship on a very pleasant and warm afternoon at the prestigious USTA Billie Jean King U.S. National Tennis Center.
