Baruch Swimming Falls to Division II Staten Island

The Baruch swimming teams traveled on Monday to take on the College of Staten Island Dolphins in a non-conference meet. 

The Bearcats and Dolphins used to be rivals in CUNYAC, but the Dolphins now compete on the NCAA Division II level.

The Dolphins recorded several first-place finishes to total the points for the home win. 

BEARCAT HIGHLIGHTS

*The relay team of Sophia Kouchtaf, Joyce Wong, Kira Chen, and Kaetlyn Chavez started the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay.

*Youssef Elkhouly had a big afternoon winning the 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke yard events. 

*Bennett Maczka was also victorious in the 50 and 100 freestyle-yard events.

*Kira Chen won the 400-yard Individual Medley.

*Rookie Sophia Kouchtaf came out on top winning the 500-yard freestyle. 

*Sophomore Joyce Wong came in first in the 200-yard breaststroke.

*The meet finished with the men's relay team of Maczka, Elkhouly, Ramiel Fayngersh, and Daniel Vasilkoff winning the 200-yard freestyle.
