Baruch Swimming Defeats Brooklyn on Bearcat Appreciation Night; Men Win CUNYAC Regular Season

The Baruch swimming teams each recorded victories against the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College on Wednesday night in the ARC Aquatic Center.

Thanks to tonight's wins, the men won the CUNYAC regular season title (first place), while the women finished in second place in the standings. The CUNYAC Finals are scheduled for February 2-4 at Lehman College.

During the match, the team honored Bennett Maczka for his service to the swimming program on Bearcats Appreciations Night.

HIGHLIGHTS (meters)

*The winning men's 200 medley relay squad of Youssef Elkhouly, Daniel Vasilkoff, Michael Guzman, and Bennett Maczka broke the school record with a time of 1:50.89.

*The women's 200 medley relay squad of Kaetlyn Chavez, Joyce Wong, Kira Chen, and Tercia Dobrzynski won first place with a time of 2:18.12.

*Sophia Kouchtaf won the marathon 800 free with a time of 11:01.32.

*Tercia Dobrzynski took first (2:42.74) in the 200 free for her second event win of the meet.

*Youssef Elkhouly won the 200 free with a fast time of 2:04.01.

*In addition to the 200 medley relay, Bennett Maczka also won the 50 free (24.55) and 100 free (54.73) events.

*Kira Chen also won three events: the 200 IM (2:41.64), 100 back (1:09.74), and the previously mentioned 200 medley relay.

*Daniel Vasilkoff also won his second event winning the 200 IM (2:18.64).

*Kaetlyn Chavez won her second event in winning 100 free (1:07.57).

*Joyce Wong also won a second event with the 100 breaststroke (1:22.46).

*Eric Goldshteyn was victorious in the 100 breaststroke (1:20.76).

*The meet ended with Salma Jaramillo, Kristen Zhou, Imani Gonzalez, and Joscelyn Galindo winning the 200 free relay.
