BRONX, N.Y. (Feb. 3, 2024) – The Bearcats turned in another strong performance on day two of the 2024 CUNYAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship at Lehman's APEX Center.

The Bearcats, the five-time defending conference champions, continued their dominance at the meet and have accumulated 253 points through two days of competition. Lehman remains in second-place with 121 points, followed by Brooklyn (72) and York (8).

Baruch began the morning by surpassing an 11-year old championship record in the 200-yard medley relay. A team of Youssef Elkhouly, Daniel Vasilkoff, Michael Guzman and Bennett Maczka produced a time of 1:36.39, beating the previous best of 1:36.41 set by Staten Island in 2012.

It was one of two record-setting performances in a relay event, as the team of Vasilkoff, Maczka, Ramiel Fayngersh and Elkhouly set a new championship record in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:01.75, smashing the previous standard of 7:10.77 set by Staten Island in 2012.

One day after setting a new conference and championship record in the 500-yard freestyle, Maczka set another new standard in the 200-yard freestyle. Maczka finished the race in 1:41.36, surpassing the previous championship record of 1:45.53 set by Danila Novikov in 2012 and the conference standard of 1:41.47 set by Staten Island's Tim Sweeney in 2017.

Vasilkoff won two gold medals in individual events on the day. He set a new championship record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.66, smashing the previous best of 58.33 set by Timur Rakhimov in 2014. The rookie was also crowned conference champion in the 400-yard I.M., finishing the race in 4:18.28, nearly 30 seconds faster than the second-place participant. His time stands as the second-fastest performance in the event in conference championship history.

Fayngersh captured gold in the 100-yard butterfly, winning the race in 53.72. The Bearcats swept the event, as Ethan Abramov (54.54) and Daniel Yadgarov (58.12) finished second and third, respectively.
