Men's Basketball Defeats Rutgers-Camden (84-78)

The men's basketball team fended off a late rally by the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers-Camden to record an 84-78 victory in southern New Jersey on Tuesday night.

The visiting Bearcats scored the first five points and led by double-digits throughout, including 52-37 at the break.   

They controlled the second half and led 80-67 with 2:13 left before the Scarlet Raptors quickly connected on three straight 3-pointers to get as close as 80-76 with only 1:04 left.    

Mohamed Gueye hit two free throws for 82-76 but the Scarlet Raptors scored a jumper to cut it back to four 82-78.

Emil Purisic was fouled and hit both of his free throws for 84-78 with 15 seconds left as the time ran out for the victory.

Devin Nicholson was top scorer with 24 points followed by Gueye with 14 and Purisic with 10.  

The Bearcats also dominated the boards tonight with a 42-28 advantage for their second win in three games this season.
