Men's Basketball Wins 14th Straight CUNYAC Contest, Defeat John Jay (103-93)

The men's basketball team scored over 100 points for the first time this season in defeating the Bloodhounds of John Jay College, 103-93, on Wednesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bloodhounds led early 15-14, but the Bearcats quickly took control scoring the next 14 points to jump ahead 28-15 with 9:14 left in the first half.

They never took their foot off the pedal and would lead by as much as 49-32 at halftime thanks to shooting a solid 64.5 percent (20-for-31), which included 10-of-17 from three.

John Jay tried to keep it interesting late getting as close as 101-93 in the final minutes but the Bearcats slammed the door for their 14th consecutive victory against CUNYAC opposition, dating back to last season.

Devin Nicholson was tops with 28 points, five assists, and two steals. Sayeed Osorio came off the bench to score 17 points on a 5-of-6 shooting performance from three.

Emil Purisic was perfect shooting 7-of-7 to finish with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and a career-high seven assists.   

The visitors from Hell's Kitchen shot 50 percent (26-for-52), but could not keep up with the Bearcats. Jamir Stewart led the squad with 26 points (7-of-10 3fg).
