Men's Basketball Wins CUNYAC Regular Season Title, Defeat Lehman

The men's basketball team won their CUNYAC regular-season finale defeating Lehman College, 74-61, on Wednesday night at The APEX in the Bronx.

The visiting Bearcats overcame a slow start losing 11-3 but jumped ahead at halftime 40-27 by shooting 14-of-31 from the field. They used their defense to limit the Lightning to just 1-of-9 from three for the 13-point halftime lead.

They kept their momentum going in the second half maintaining a double-digit lead and were up by as much as 17 (65-48) to win their second straight CUNYAC regular-season title (first place).

Devin Nicholson led the way in the rescheduled contest (postponed on Tuesday by snow) by scoring 27 points, while Sayeed Osorio was another big spark off the bench contributing 18 points. Gerard Nicholson also reached double-figures finishing with 13 points.

Kai Parris was tops for the Lightning with 18 points.

The Bearcats as the first-place team earn a bye into the CUNYAC Championship semi-final round scheduled for next Wednesday, February 21, where they will host at home an opponent to be determined at 7:30pm.
