Women's Volleyball Defeats Hunter (3-1), Fall to Montclair State (3-0) at Dig Pink Invitational

The women's volleyball team finished with a 2-2 record at the Dig Pink Invitational hosted by the State University of New York at Oneonta.

The visiting Bearcats on Saturday played a rare non-conference match against their rival Hunter College Hawks in the consolation bracket.

The Bearcats dropped the first set (25-23), but came back to win the next three with scores of 25-23, 25-22, 25-16 to walk off with the victory for their 16th win of the season.

Rebecca Peralta (18 kills, 11 digs) and McKenzie Davidson (18 kills, 14 digs) each tallied a double-double again, while Michelle Stommes totaled 11 kills.

Crystle Dela Cruz also recorded a double-double with 41 assists and 10 digs. Amy Sung had 17 digs and Sydney Parks totaled five blocks.

In the second match, the Bearcats lost in straight sets to Montclair State with scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-22 to even their season record at 16-16.

Davidson led the way with 11 kills, while Peralta finished with 10 kills and 11 digs to earn All-Tournament Honors.

Dela Cruz dished out 28 assists in the tough loss to an opponent from the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

The women's volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday, November 5, with a 7:00 pm CUNYAC Tournament quarterfinal playoff match against Medgar Evers in the ARC Arena.
