Statement to Spectators in Attendance

“The NCAA and CUNYAC promote good sportsmanship by student-athletes, coaches and spectators. We request your cooperation by supporting the participants and officials in a positive manner. Profanity, racial or ethnic  comments, or other intimidating actions directed at officials, student‐athletes, coaches or team representatives will not be  tolerated and are grounds for removal from the site of competition.”

Spectator Behavior

Spectators are an important aspect of the Baruch athletic program and enhance the accomplishments of the individual athletes. All student-athletes that are spectators at other sport contests are held to the same rules as they are during participation in their own sport. Failure to follow the spectator code of conduct may result in loss of playing privileges in their own sport.

Spectators are expected to conform to the accepted standards of sportsmanship and should never distract from the accomplishments of the Baruch student-athletes.

Spectators are capable of creating a negative impression of the Baruch athletic program and embarrassing Baruch athletes.

The following behaviors must be followed by all spectators:

1. Respect officials, visiting coaches, visiting players, visiting cheerleaders and visiting spectators.

2. Treat all visitors as guests to our community and extend all courtesy to our visitors.

3. Booing, whistling, stamping of feet, disrespectful remarks and obscene gestures must be avoided and will not be tolerated.

4. Bells, horns or other noise devices will not be allowed at any contests.

5. All Spectators must refrain from making derogatory comments toward any Baruch player, coach, administrator or spectator.

6. Absolutely no comments of a personal nature may be made toward a visiting player, visiting coach, administrator or official.

7. Family member of the student-athletes should refrain from confronting coaches during practices or after games. Failure to comply to any of the above may result in the removal of the spectator from the sporting event by Baruch College Public Safety.
