Job Description: Assistant Men’s Volleyball Coach

Title: Assistant Coach

Reports to: Head Coach

Position Purpose: The assistant coach provides administrative, instructional, and recruiting support services under the director of the head coach.

Directly Supervises: Student managers

Primary Responsibilities

1. Assist in the implementation of the sport training and instructional program under the direction of the head coach by providing sport skill instruction, assisting in the conduct of practice sessions, performing game-related duties, and motivating players to give their best efforts.

2. Recruit prospective student-athletes effectively as assigned by and under the direction of the head coach.

3. Serve as a liaison with academic support personnel in support of players’ academic efforts.

4. Serve as a liaison with athletic training and strength and conditioning staff in support of conditioning and rehabilitation of players.

5. Demonstrate a sincere interest in the personal and academic development, as well as athletic progress, of student-athletes.

6. Exhibit good writing with speaking abilities.

7. Exhibit supportive and cooperative behavior in pursuit of sport program goals set by head coach.

8. Efficiently and effectively complete all assignments provided by the head coach.

9. Accept constructive criticism and demonstrate professional growth under the supervision of the head coach.

10. Exhibit good judgement and professional behavior in advertising and counseling student athletes.

11. Conform to the highest standard of professional conduct regarding compliance with department and institutional policies and procedures and adherence to the rules and regulation of athletic governance organizations of which the institution is a member.

12. Contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all staff, student athletes, and external constituents through (a) a positive and constructive approach to all tasks, (b) respect for the competencies of others, and (c) appropriate conflict resolution behavior

Education and Certification Requirements Required: Previous experience and knowledge of the sport and/or higher education coaching experience.

Preferred: Degree in physical education or related area; coaching certification experience as an assistant coach or head coach. Demonstrated sport knowledge.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: Up to $6,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

(2) Facilities Supervisor/Event Management Assistant- PART TIME
Reports to: Assistant AD for Facilities
Hourly Wage: $15-$20/hr. commensurate with experience, no benefits

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience.
Nights and/or weekends.
Requirement of a valid New York State driver's license free from infractions.
Must be able to lift and carry at least 50lbs.
Ability to effectively communicate with various constituents, both internally an
Supervisory ability and ability to keep detailed records.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Remote work may be required on occasion.
Basic knowledge of scoreboards, electronic and video displays as well as fitness equipment, washing machines and dryers
CPR/AED Certification

Primary Duties:
  • Responsible for supervision of Athletic and Recreation Complex (ARC) facilities during specified hours of operation.
  • Serve as point of contact to all students, faculty and staff, rental groups, public safety and/or guests.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to members, rentals, guests, and other participants.
  • Alert persons of rule infractions and communicate with Public Safety as necessary and maintain a facility incident report logbook.
  • Identify facility needs and report them to Assistant AD for Facilities, including repairs, housekeeping, leaks and lighting.Ensure attention is given to any situation that may increase the liability and risk exposure of the Department and College.
  • Responsible for ARC event setup and breakdown of facilities for home athletic contests, special events, tournaments, and hosted championships.
  • Assist with crowd control measures and expected risk management at all home events.
  • Host and greet all visitors, visiting teams and coaches, referees/officials, rental users, etc.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of fitness center staff, student workers, interns, and event staff.
  • Respond immediately to any and all emergencies within the facility.
  • Complete daily rounds through all areas of the facility.
  • Attend all required trainings and meetings as notified by the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
