Dr. Pinto joined the faculty at Baruch in 2007 and is currently a tenured Associate Professor of Psychology.  She has served as the FAR since July 2020.  Dr. Pinto completed her bachelor’s degree at Harvard University (1997), her Ph.D. in clinical psychology with a subspeciality in behavioral medicine at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (2004), and a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior (DPHB) at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University where she studied behavioral obesity treatment.
 
At Baruch, Dr. Pinto teaches Statistics for Social Science (PSY 2100) and Research Methods in Psychology (PSY 3001). Her research focuses on behavioral weight management and factors that affect initiation and maintenance of healthy eating and physical activity.
 
As FAR, Dr. Pinto serves as a liaison between the Academic and Athletic Departments at Baruch and meets regularly with the Director of Athletics and Recreation (Heather MacCulloch) and Assistant AD for Academics, Compliance, and Eligibility (Carrie Thomas).  The FAR provides support to Student-Athletes in a variety of ways, including:  
  • Facilitating communication with faculty
  • Supporting advisement (e.g., course selection/planning, graduate school etc.)
  • Connecting Student-Athletes to campus resources
  • Assisting with balancing academic workload and athletic commitments
  • Supporting SAAC activities and events
